Did you ever know one of those kind of people? The kind who is always scheming about something? Every few weeks they’ve got a new idea regarding how to get rich, a new way to take advantage of a situation; it is always something. And the worst part is, you get sucked into the racket, and the scheming friend somehow manages to weasel away without any consequences.
In this psalm, David’s description of the wicked reminds me of a few people I’ve met. They are always plotting, always looking to get ahead. In your relationships with them, you have to always be on your guard. You never know what is coming next. It is a very tense way to live.
But notice the contrast. The wicked are unpredictable, but God is eternally faithful. With God, you never have to be on your guard, you never have to worry about what is coming next. Because God is unfailing love. People are wicked, and we will fail each other every time. But God never fails. What an amazing truth. And what a peaceful way to live—trusting Him, knowing that your faith is not in vain.
Praise God that even though we try to scheme our way through life—even scheming in our relationship with Him—that He is faithful, righteous, and loving.
