All of life is made up of choices – isn’t it?! We choose to get up in the morning – or not. We choose to eat breakfast – or not…and then we choose what to eat. We choose to honor the speed limit – or not (I’m usually in the NOT category here…). We choose to be interested (sincerely interested) when talking with someone – or not. We choose to say no - or…yes. We choose time with our family - or…not. We choose to look – or… to turn away. We choose a small lie…or the truth. We choose….etc…
“Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment” (v.10, NLT).
Good judgment or good choices are a result of “knowledge of the Holy One”….How do we arrive at “knowledge of the Holy One”?
Both Wisdom and Folly call to those who LACK good judgment. (v.4 & v.16) – To those who are lost. To those who are without Christ. To those who do not know the Father. The first step in knowing HIM is accepting Christ. Then we are to pursue him passionately and grow to know him more intimately. The pursuit of God (meditation on His Word and time spent in prayer) results in greater knowledge of Him and greater knowledge of Him results in good judgment/good choices.
“The Pursuit of God”, “The Knowledge of the Holy” and “The Attributes of God” are great resources to help us in the journey to know Him more. But the best resource is His Word.
How do YOU actively pursue a greater knowledge of Him?
